Competition for Glock 19.

So You have a Glock 19 (GEN3 or GEN4) and like the idea of carrying that size pistol in 9mm.

What other pistols would of simmilar size and magazine capacity would compete with a G19.

I actually just posted this same recommendation in another thread, but I've found the Sig P229 to be quite comparable for that size. I prefer it to my Glock 19, but both are excellent. (I live in a free state and have a 17 Rd mag in my P229.)

HK and SIG both have similar-sized pistols to the G19 but they are either heavier, more expensive or both.

Springfield Armory XD/XD-m/XD-s or Mod-2 versions.
Depending on how deep concealment you want/need to go, the Shield is also a great alternative.

You mentioned that the Glock 19 is reliable. My personal experience is that it was anything but reliable. Compared to my XD-m and Shield which were way more reliable than the Glock. So, bottom line is don't always listen to everything you hear. Legendary or not. And no, you can't pour sand in them and still work (Tommy Lee Jones is a liar!).

The VP9 is the same size as a G17. Maybe even a little bigger. I think they are damn good guns, just bigger than the G19.

I apples to apples matchup (weight, size, capacity) I'd say the VP-9 is the best competition for the G-19
