Question about optic: RMR, Venom, FF or Delta Point

I am new to running a red dot on any of my pistols. Since my 34 is already milled, which red dot should I run? Also what size MOA? There is so many to choose from and it gets overwhelming. Let me know your thoughts and why. Thank you.

I like the delta point triangle. tip/point can be used for precision and the entire "dot" for speed shooting

In your case with the MOS, you might want to try the Delta Point. Dawson make co-witness sights for that combo. The only issue my be finding a holster to accommodate.

I've had good luck with Trijicon RMRs in aftermarket milled slides. At first I used a 6MOA dot and then moved to the smaller 3.5MOA. I've been using 3.5MOA almost 2 years. Dots can "bloom" and appear larger when you adjust the brightness settings, or become smaller and a crisp circle when turning down the brightness setting- I'd recommend an adjustable LED model should you go with Trijicon.

I have an RMR and two Deltapoint Pros, I prefer the Deltapoint.

DP has no color or optical distortion. RMR does.

RMR can have auto brightness and sits lower.

Understand a potential issue with the new Delta Points Pro. Like the Burris series with a top loading battery they tend to have taller bodies. If co-witness back up irons is important to you these two models make it difficult due to height. Even melted down into the top of the slide.

Penguin did point out how the RMR series does sit lower. Just like the first gen of the Delta Point.

The optical distortion of the RMR or tint of the screen is not so bothersome to remove as a consideration. I love the dual outputs and enjoy battery free operation.

I own Delta Points 1st gen, Trijicons both battery and Dual and Burris.

I shoot mainly behind the 12 MOA triangle of the Trijicon. My point of impact/point of aim is at 25 yards using the tip of the triangle. I love this as I hold for slow fire accuracy using the tip of the triangle. Better accuracy for me due to not having to obscure the target or cover it with a dot. For all else I just hold the big 12 MOA triangle on where I want to hit.

My recommendation may be unpopular but it works very well for me.

Don't shoot me this is my first optic ready slide so I went with the Viper 6 MOA and AmeriGlo Suppressor sights. $300.00 shipped for both just spoke to me. Yes I could have went with 3 MOA Venom with top mounted battery but I choose the Viper instead cause it's lower and co witness with the suppressor sights. Thanks all.

If you want precision, chose a target with a bull close to the dot size.

I like larger dots for faster pickup at lower brightness. The sweetspot IMO is 4 MOA. 3 MOA is slightly better for marketing. If you ever shoot timed or are concerned about speed, 6 MOA might be better. a 6 MOA circle can be very very precise if you shoot a target with an appropriate sized bull.

2 MOA is OK but you need high brightness to pick up which can lead to starbursting from reflections, etc. (not to be confused with astigmatism effects). I would expect very high dollar units not to have such issues. Multi-hundred dollar red dots can, easily.

for a single device that will go anywhere and do anything, IMO a 4 MOA circle is the way to go. The only detractor is that best possible precision will require standard bullseye targets, not really an issue IMO.
