40 SUPER Pistol NEED!

Hoping someone here can help me. I'm looking to own a pistol (I reside in Kalifornia) that is chambered in 40 Super.

I've read, perhaps even on this forum, that you can get a 40 Super barrel and drop it in to a Glock.

Well, I just purchased one of these http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=1482 and I'm wondering if any of y'all have had experience with Lone Wolf and particularly this 40 Super barrel.

If we could please refrain from the "why in the hell do you want a 40 Super gun" I sure would appreciate it. Let's leave it at "... because i can..." ok?!

Unless someone has created a new cartridge recently, I'm not sure if there is a "40 Super".
There is however, a 10mm Auto which is more than likely what you're looking for.
The 10mm Auto came first, then came the 40S&W.
If the 10mm isn't what you're looking for, there is something called the "10mm Magnum", but I'm pretty sure it won't fit into a Glock(or 1911 for that matter).

Looks like lonewolf makes a barrel to go in a g21, but not sure why anyone would want it. Looks rare and I'm guessing very expensive to shoot

Looks like Maht G beat me to it. Here is a copy from Lone Wolf's site:

" Can be used in factory ported or stock pistols. Intended for use in the Glock 21,21SF pistol only. *This barrel is 6.02 inch, 153mm over all length"

Underwood lists a box of 20 for $21.50.

200grain .40 super has more energy at 100 yds than a 45acp has at the muzzle... damn, I kinda want one now!

40 super has muzzle energy approaching 44 mag. It's more than 10mm full load. It's a bit of wildcat round, not too many commercial loads. It's similar to 400 Corbon but handles a much higher pressure with a longer case length.

I don't like to discourage one from their esoteric firearms tastes. One knows I suffer from it too.

However, if this is a FIRST pistol, and the OP is not a current reloader it will probably be poor mix of user and equipment because of the rare round, and the necked cases are harder to reload (treat it like a rifle round).

Wow, the 40 Super looks like a handful. I have trouble keeping my 10MM on target with dbl. taps. No way I'd handle this cartridge consistently for self-defense. Sounds interesting and please keep us updated on what you purchase and how it shoots in the future.

Round head space on the shoulder, not any more difficult to load than any other pistol round.

Agree not a good round for first pistol or in that matter 2nd or 3rd. It is a niche round, fun to shoot, or hunt with, but not something to practice with.

From the specs and line drawings, a 40 Super reamer would easily clean up the chamber of a 40 S&W barrel.
If you're really serious about one and you can't locate a barrel, you might want to consider finding a reamer and convert a 40 S&W barrel. Though I suspect that it would probably benefit from having a 6" barrel.
You'd have to up your recoil spring strength too.

Fellas, I have to confess something here. First, no this is not my first pistol. I have a number of Sigs and in California, with the P220 available in 10mm which is NOT on the approved CA DOJ list, I've been coveting a big *** pistol and no, not to practice regularly with but, well, just to have. God knows I love my S&W 500 Mag as a wheel gun, but after I read cstarr3's post I wondered "hmmm, would I really be happy with a 10mm?" After all, i would just as infrequently shoot a 10mm since I have plenty of other pistols to practice with. Following so far? So then I'm on Underwood's site buying some 357 Sig and 40 S&W ammo. It was a late night working and by mistake, or was my subconscious working (God only knows) I think I'm clicking on 40 S&W. A few days later, UPS delivers, I open the box, and I start wondering, "Man these 40 S&W boxes sure are heavy" ... opened one up and stared... "When did 40 S&W come in a necked cartridge?!?!" Next thought, was "oh s***, I bought 40 Super!" Of course you know what that meant, now that i have a few hundred rounds of 40 Super and nothing to shoot it with, what's a guy going to do?! I had no choice, I mean, I just had to do it. It's like leaving food on the plate, you can't let it go to waste. It's a sin for God's sake. So, I just had to go buy a Glock 21 today and Lone Wolf's 40 Super drop in barrel. It was the only God respecting thing to do. I couldn't leave food on the plate. It's that simple guys

I allways found a TC Single Shot Pistol to be perfect for working with Wildcat Rounds.

Just have to get your barrels made.
