    Glock 23 conversion barrel?

So I just bought a used glock 23 for a killer price. I actually wanted a glock 19 but the deal on the 23 was too good to pass up. I've never shot 40 caliber before, I'm partial to 9mm because of the low recoil and cheap ammo. I spent about 300 bucks on 1,000 rounds of 40 cal for now to see how I like shooting it.

I've heard a lot of people bad mouth the 40 cal for being a compromise round or too snappy. However, I know it has its merits for being a bit more powerful than 9. I'm going to go through the 1000 rounds I bought and then decide if I want to convert to 9.

My question is has anyone done a barrel conversion to 9mm? I have read and seen on YouTube different things. Some say all you need is the barrel. Others say go all out with new mags, springs, extractor, etc. and even some in between.

Do you guys have any experience with this?

Maybe go big...Should I switch to 357 sig? Lol jk

    Glock 23 conversion barrel?

I have a glock 23 and a 9mm storm lake barrel. I just replace the barrel and use a glock 19 mag and it's worked every time.

I don't see why you would need anything more than barrel and mags

        ^^^ Exactly this.

Because I'm chambering a round that wasn't made for the gun, I wouldn't stake my life on this modification and carry it concealed, but for range shooting, it's just fine.

I've been running a 9mm storm lake barrel in my G22 for a few months now with G17 ETS and Glock mags. Out of the 1000 or so rounds i've put through it, it has stove pipe'd once. It has run flawlessly otherwise

9mm rounds in .40 cal mags do not work

I did buy an extractor for my g22 based on what i read, but never installed it. Barrel and mags are all you need imo

I also just picked up a g23 and have already ordered a SL barrel for it.

I have a G23 and of the pistols I own [many] its the one I shoot worst of all. Not by a lot but the snappiness of it makes my followups a lot slower. I really can't blame .40 vs 9mm for that...its my less than perfect skills with shooting that the Glock brings out. On a 1911 or another weapon where I have an aftermarket trigger, I shoot more accurately but that is just an indication of weapon control that I'm working on.

I have the Storm Lake conversion barrel [Glockmeister $125] and bought 2 9mm mags, no other changes. I am at about 200 rds through it and my G23 has functioned perfectly.

I bought a Lone Wolf 40-9 and a G19 magazine for my old G23 and it works fine. Can "field strip" in about 3 minutes and change at the range.

Lone Wolf conversion barrel and G19 magazines for my G23 also.
Works just fine and swap it out before heading out to the range.
Be mindful of the barrel so you don't shoot 9mm out the stock barrel

G35 3rd gen with Lonewolf 40-9 conversion here. I ended up reaming the tight LW chamber to standard 9mm chamber for reliability with my reloads. Also changed the extractor and ejector to 9mm for a more reliable extraction and ejection. It's 100% reliable. I also had my G23 with 357 Sig and 40-9 conversion. Worked out great also.

No issues here with a lone wolf conversion barrel.

                      I like .40

For fun shooting, the cost of 9mm is why I picked up the conversion barrel.

I tend to take acquaintences shooting who don't own guns.

Show them a safe and fun time. First time shooting ammo costs are on me.

The cost of 22 is cheap... the cost of 40&45 is a lot more than 9mm

The Glock 19/23 use the exact same recoil spring. Different factory part #'s for inventory control but the same spring and weight.

Has anyone tried to use the 23 mags with 9mm? I saw a guy in YouTube doing it and it ran flawlessly.

I have a 27 that I got a Wolf 9-40 I tried the 27 mags and they work but I was worried that I could get 11 rounds of 9mm in them, but they worked.

I went with 26 mags because it was my carry gun and didn't want any problems with jamming or running amuck of the dumb a** laws in Ca.

Another Storm Lake user here. Only have about 300 rounds through it and G19 mags but it's been 100% flawless

So is the storm lake better than the lone wolf?
