This is what I meant OP. Thanks for the clarification Mytmoss.

FWIW, I have a 226 with about 3k rounds through it and at least that many dry fires.....and that has made the stock trigger real nice.

I have a 226 with both the SRT and short reach trigger, both I installed myself. Also installed a lighter weight action (hammer) spring and lighter weight recoil spring.

The recoil spring won't do anything for your triggger, but the lighter action spring will lighten up the trigger pull depending on what you change it to. Wolf (and others, I'm sure) sell a few different spring weights for the action.

The only way to make the trigger much smoother is to smooth out the contact surfaces on the sear and hammer engagement. You can do that by hand or by shooting.

OP, you keep saying your trigger pull is an inch long or more. Do you have a double-action (DA) only pistol? This is the only way I can imagine the trigger pull being so long and also having a super long reset.

With the short reach trigger, I don't think there's an inch from the front of the trigger hook to the back of the trigger housing area. And there is NO WAY there could be an inch of reset on the single action stage; I know it's much shorter with the SRT, but it isn't ridiculous without it.

ETA: I lost count of how many rounds I put through my 226. It was my favorite gun and I used it in competition. Suffice it to say, I put enough rounds through it that the rifling was eroding at the throat and the muzzle.

Like others have said, take a look at Gray Guns. They're pretty much the go-to for Sig aftermarket except for Sig themselves.
