moving to CA, what off-roster should I get?

Heading back to CA from TX, what off-roster should I get before I no longer have a chance? I heard that threaded barreled and AR15 pistol are illegal. Is that right? How come I see them on the much wanted list around here? Please advise.

If you are concerned with getting your money back if you decide you don't like the pistol anymore the Glock 43 seems to be in very high demand and short supply in CA...if you are picking up what I'm putting down.
