        Longer answer: you can install a new lock and keep it as-is without registration. (The only thing you can't do is go featureless, but that's always been the case.)

          Thank you all for the reply. I did not think it would have to be registered as it is a pistol. Thought it would be like a gen 4 glock.

            Because the magwell is outside the grip, it requires a bullet button. The gun is now an unregistered AW in CA and must be registered. It is unlikely that a fixed mag solution would work for the Kriss.
