Anyone have opinions good or bad? I've fired it and love it. Thinking of purchasing in 40 cal. for HD and for fun.

I test fired the .40. I don't really like .40, but I liked that one!

      I'd hit it.

I have a .40 one with 4" barrel. It's a good solid gun, quite accurate, too. I still prefer a Glock 35, but that's a personal preference. I can't think of anything being obviously wrong with M&P40. The grip is really good for most people, too.

I have a .40 S&W M&P, I shot a lot of guns before I decided to buy it, and would never leave it for a plastic glock! Its a perfect gun, never had a misfire, and it comes with 3 different grips that you can change. Shoots like a CHAMP! A lot of people lost faith after the terrible Sigma, but it is a completely different gun.

I liked the first so much, I got a second.

The M&P Subcompact 9mm. Very easy to shoot and nice grip. I have big hands, so many SC guns are hard for me to hold.

My M&P 45 (full size) is very dependable (no misfires after ~2000 rounds) and the interchangeable grips are great.

The rails are nice if you want a light. I went with an X2 because is lightweight.

These 2 are my preferred handguns to shoot.

M&P is one outstanding pistol. I prefer Glock just a bit more but will pick up a M&P before XD.

Thank you everyone. Last night I shot a USP, Glock 23, XD and the M&P. Hands down I loved the M&P with Glock in close second.

if you shot it and liked it, why the hell would you care about what others think about it?

I opted for the M&P based on feel. I chose 9mm though, as Walmart sells boxes of 100 for $19.97. Or did when I bought

M&P is an outstanding pistol. I own one in 9mm and love it. I would reccomend you to purchase the 9mm as well if this is your first pistol. Rancho isn't too far from here, next time I shoot you can try mine out.

I have the same 2 M&Ps and they are both great guns. I carry the compact 9 most of the time. It is very comfortable to carry, light and concealable. It is one of the most accurate 9mm pistols I own and shoots great. The .45 is also a great shooter and with 4 10-shot mags is quite a firepower package. I sometimes carry it in a Jackass rig and it is quite concealable. It shoots as good or better than my 1911.

My .02 is you can't go wrong with the M&P

I have an M&P and would recommend it for the reasons listed above. The ergonomics are very nice and comfortable, and the included optional grips will make a custom fit easier. Glock is a great reliable gun too, but personally the ergos suck and they are a bit on the blocky side as far as looks go. You should be able to get the M&p for under $500 if you look hard.
