had a friend approach me about buying his g30s with 4 total mags and a holster for $500... not up to speed on the various .45 glocks, but looks like it's s good price. Thoughts from g30 owners? Good? Meh?

The 30S is Off-roster, so there is a premium on its value in Cali. The Calguns marketplace range for Glock 30S is $650 - $750 depending on condition, what's included, location etc.
So, if your friend's 30s is at least in good condition, that is a great buy. Even ON-ROSTER Glocks go for just under that.
I own a 30S. What is special about it is, there is no Compact/Carry Handgun in existence (in Stock form) that can throw more lead than the 30S... well you have the Glock 30 that is its equal, except of course it is a thicker handgun.
