    Smith and Wesson M&P "M2.0"

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to polymer pistol lovers everywhere.Back in August, TFB’s own Nathaniel F.penned a post about Smith & Wesson trademarking ‘M2.0’ for use in an upcoming product release.

It seems the two major updates are:

    1- Different grip texture.

2- Removed the beavertail from the fullsize models.

No explanation (yet) for what those slots above the accessory rail are for.
Unless if microstamping is struck from the Roster requirements, this pistol is very unlikely to make it onto the Roster.

I wonder if they will bother making them CA approved?

I would like to try out the new pro series if it ever emerges. I have apex on my m&p anyways but the new ergos may be nice. I prefer a beaver tail but some like to hike up higher an shave their beaver tail so this is probably in response to that.

I would compare this to the XD Mod 2. The XD is still popular and mod 2 is not really seen too often. Go figure. Wwe shall see how this roll out affects things.

it would be impossible since microstamping is impossible.

        why would S&W even try?

Is this even a serious question?

At least it don't say "Grip Zone" anywhere.

The trigger is supposed to be a new design as well.
If I had to describe myself in one word it would be "bad at following directions"

If that new texture is the same as the shield .45 texture, it is awesome.

More than just 2 major design updates:

                  3) Ejection port is flared considerably

                  4) forward serrations for press checking.

Just checked my Pro and Shield.

The slots above the rail are the serial number plates.

This will never make it on to the roster. FUCA again.

He Mod 2's have been pretty popular up here. Most people I've sold XD's to either grab the Mod 2's or an XD-S.

I'm excited to see how the new ergonomics on the M&P feel. I've never been a huge fan of the grip on the standard M&P's.

the holes in the frame near the muzzle look like they have the serial number inside. I think the trigger assembly will be removable and you can get different frames for your specific needs, like the sig p320

I would assume this is S&W's entry for the Modular Handgun System that is now out of the running.

I sure hope the new trigger design is an improvement. The one on my M&P Shield is okay enough, but my buddy has an M&P VTAC 9mm and the trigger is just awful.

I am, I hope they only added a more aggressive texture. I wonder if the slide stop will actually be functonal on the next gens.... probably not.
