    Sig GSR 1911

Does anyone here own a Sig GSR 1911? I'm thinking of getting one, but I keep seeing mixed reviews. Some good and some not so good. So now I'm confused.

Let me know what some of the problems are, and what the praises are.

don't own one, but here are a few recent threads here on CGN.

i really wanted to get a Revolution, since i'm partial to SIGs, but i elected to get a Springfield Armory MC Operator.

Nobody posts anything when everything is fine with the gun. I know a couple people who carry GSR's and they haven't had a SINGLE problem.

If you look up any gun on the internet, you're going to find problems with it somewhere. Take my advice, rent it, shoot it, and buy it if you like it. You'll be far happier in the long run, even if it needs a little work down the road.

BTW- I don't like them because I think they're ugly. But it's just a personal thing!

Have one too. Was made in April of this year. Had FTF issues too. Sent it back and still had FTF but not as many. Saving up now to send it to a smith to get reliability job and some other work I want done.

If I had to do it again, I think I would go for a Les for a little more or a Nighthawk to get the gun exactly how I like it (for a lot more). After all the ammo, range fees, shipping to Sig and still needing a reliability job, the price of this GSR Revo is more than the cost of a Les and after the other stuff I want done to it, it will be around the price of a Nighthawk.

I have ALOT of 1911's. I bought a Sig, had FTF's sent it into Sig, waited, waited, and waited. Finally got it back, scratched and FTF's as bad a when I sent it in, got rid of it and bought something else. With so many other choices out there I can't recommend the Sig. And they ain't cheap, you can get a mil spec Springfield for half the price and the son of a gun will work, maybe not look as racey, but at least it will work. I'm not real big on bashing stuff but in this case I encourage you to save your cash and buy something else. Just my opinion, I may be wrong...............

So far from what I hear alot from the owners over at sigforum, it's a hit and miss. As much as I love Sigs, I think I'm passing on this one, atleast for now. Sounds like there are still bugs with this newer Sig model and they haven't really fixed it since their GSR pistols are not consistently Sig reliable like their classic Sigs. The one I hear with a really bad rep esp for a Sig is the Mosquito. It sounds like a real lemon. The GSR is a nice looking 1911 pistol but I'll wait till they've solved all their problems.

                Forget the GSR

No offense GSR guys, but why would you buy a gun with reliability problems? Chances are high that you will get a GSR lemon: NO amount of money is worth the headache of shipping your GSR back and forth to gunsmiths and Sig for repairs and reliability jobs; then, you have to wait and be without the weapon you paid big money for. If I was it the posters boat, I would buy a P220 and a Colt 1911. The P220 would be for serious business and the Colt 1911 as a museum piece.
