    New Colt Commander Sight help

Hey guys need help finding fiber optic sights for a Colt Commander. I love Dawson precision sights but they have none that are specific to the Commander model. Is that going to be a problem. From what I've read the Commander has different sight cuts on the frame.

Yeah they are not open. And looking at the picture they have on the site, and looking at the cutouts on the slide on my Commander, I don't think they'll work

It's the front sight that is different

My Colt Commander (stainless 04091U) had a staked front sight. I sent my slide to Novak and had them mill the front and rear, install a gold bead front and lo-mount, wide notch, plain rear. With shipping it ran about $250.00. Kind of pricy but it works for my old eyes.

Dang , that is pretty pricey. I guess I'll just get some trijicons for it and roll that way.

They don't need to be Commander specific. Just choose the right height and width to match your rear sights. If you're uncertain, call Dawson and tell them which rear sight you have. They'll be able to offer you the right one.

If your front sight is staked on you'll need a gunsmith to put that front sight on. Unless you're willing to do it yourself by getting a dremel tool, grinding bit and a front sight staker.

Which commander sights do you have?
