    XD-9 Trigger Job Kits

I have been trying really hard to shoot well with my XD-9 Tactical, but I just don't shoot this as well as most other guns. Frankly the trigger is really a bear, with a long take-up and a pretty heavy pull.

I know there are various companies that make trigger job kits. Powder River Precision looks to be a major vendor for such a product, and it appears they have three different kits. Springer Precision appears to be another.

So what are the cool kids using? And if it is PRP, which one? There is the "ultimate match target trigger kit," the "Drop-In trigger Kit" or the "Ulimate Easy Fit Trigger Kit".

The PRP kit is the better kit. You want the ultimate match target trigger kit, couple that with the replaced striker parts and the extended safety, and you have yourself a fantastic gun.

I put the PRP ULtimate match kit in my XD. This is one of the best groups I shot @ 30'. It is now much easier to shoot tighter groups.

I just run the prp easy fit in mine, not the ultimate match, but I really like it. They have 15% off on their kits for the next few days too using code BF15

I got to tell you, I never associated heavy trigger and XD together. A long pull and a long reset I agree, but heavy? Try the double action weight of many revolvers and some pistols.

My stock XD's are in the 5 - 6 lb range.
My CZ SP-01 was > 12 lb in Da.
My Beretta 92FS after a spring change is 9lbs is DA
Ruger GP100 is 10lb 6 oz in DA.

Go for a Springer Precision or Powder River trigger if you want the improvement but calling an XD trigger heavy (unless your gun has some real problem) will make me raise an eyebrow.

Thanks, I was wondering if it was just me. I have 2 xd pistols, soft, mushy maybe would describe them but not heavy. Not saying they cant be better and a trigger upgrade wouldn't help.

Agreed with the above. I didn't consider the pull "heavy" just long & mushy. So in went the prp kit

Same here, on my XD. Long and mushy but not heavy. I can live with it.

I agree with the above, I have tried XD9 tactical and Glock 17/19, and I can feel that XD9 trigger is not heavy compare to GLock 17/19.

I too have never associated an XD trigger to be heavy. It's a dream of a trigger compared to Glock triggers in my opinion.

I'm assuming your XD9 is new. Have you cleaned/lubed the pistol prior to use? Maybe there is some packing grease that is making the trigger heavy. If it's an older gun, perhaps a good thorough cleaning is due.

Hope you get the XD sorted out. It sure is a sleeper of a gun!

+1 PRP ultimate, Xd is now a tact driver, combination with the 5 inch and 9mm. You can't go wrong. Installation was a breeze.
