DW CBOB no longer on CA Roster?

I finally found a vendor(out of state though) who had a CBOB with SS bushing and hammer and for under $1000 to boot. So I went to place my order yesterday and was told the gun was not on the CA Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale as it expired on 1/31/2009. Looks like DW paid the fee to extend the Pointman 7 but chose not to do so with the CBOB. So, now the only way to acquire one is through PPT, wtf?

So anyone know a compliant commander frame 1911 preferably with bobtail? Or someone in SoCal wanna sell me their CBOB?

I've heard the list on line may be behind and need to be updated? Seems I read that a few days ago on another post.

I think they're just slow to update the list. Wouldn't there have been rumblings if the CBOB were dropping off?

          ?????

The list you posted doesn't include ANY DW's.....

From the current CA DOJ Roster:
Model Gun Type Barrel Length Caliber Exp Date
          Classic / CCL / Stainless Steel Pistol 4.35" .45 ACP 1/31/2009
          PM7-S / Stainless Steel Pistol 5.06" .45 ACP 1/31/2010

That being said, DW can't seem to make enough of the CBOB's to keep up with demand. California is a good size firearms market (despite the anti-gun liberal law makers) with the people with the $$$ to buy them. I can't imagine that they would let it fall of the list. My money is on "DOJ slow to update the roster".....

            Precisely my point.

The list I posted was every handgun removed from the list in the past month.

            No DW's.

I see....I didn't realize that they had a list specifically for what had been removed.....

              Thanks for clarifying...

I was notified through the FFL I purchased from that it expried. Guess the CA govt are slow to update and now he won't ship it until they do.I can understand the FFL's position and now just have to wait for them to update it. Or perhaps he could contact them but that may be more trouble than it's worth. It's no wonder out of state dealers do not want to sell to Californians.

It has not expired. The "CBOB" is not the official name. The Classic Bobtail is. On the roster, the pistol is referred to as the Classic. It's there, and has been for some time. Look on the side of the new CBOBs - the model "classic" is engraved on the left side

By the way, I confirmed this with CZ prior to purchasing a CBOB last year. If you are still curious, call them and they'll give you the same answer.

Explore CZ's latest firearms, including the CZ 600 and CZ 457 series. Shop online, customize with the configurator, and find local dealers.

This model NOT listed under CZUSA on the DOJ on-line Roster (below), listed under Dan Wesson, same as on the CA DROS on-line Application for Dealers.

Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale
Handgun models will be removed from the roster on the list expiration date unless the manufacturer renews the listing prior to the list expiration date.

                    Search again

There are 2 matching records for Dan Wesson
The matching records list is sorted by Make
This list is valid for Wednesday, February 04, 2009

Model Gun Type Barrel Length Caliber Exp Date
                    Classic / CCL / Stainless Steel Pistol 4.35" .45 ACP 1/31/2009
                    PM7-S / Stainless Steel Pistol 5.06" .45 ACP 1/31/2010

Expiration on the DOJ Roster is expired. However, on the DROS application connection, under Handgun Sale tab, Certified Guns drop selection is the following: Dan Wesson|Classic / CCL Stainless Steel 02/06|Semiautomatic Pistol|4.35in|.45ACP

I would go with the DOJ drop list for FFL Dealers... That there is where the buck stops.

The on-line roster and expiration date at DOJ web-site may need to be up-dated.

Hope this information helps... I would not hesitate to complete a transaction for this gun... if you can find one. Hope you are successful in your quest, this is a VERY nice gun!

I am not sure if it can be ever certified again. Letting the listing lapse was a seriously stupid and shortsighted move on behalf of DW and/or CZ.

I don't seem to see that in the PDF link.

If you are looking at the roster then yes the date shows 1/31/2009 but the PDF, which has guns de-certified up to 2/4/09, does not have the Dan Wesson Classic listed.
