New Glock G34 range report

I just picked up a new G34 for IDPA. I have shot them before so there was no surprise that the sights needed to go. I put in Ameriglo tritium front and rear sights as I am not a big fan of fiber optic (they tend to crap out of the sight in the middle of shooting). I also installed the ZEV fulcrum trigger kit. I installed their 3lb striker spring as the two pounder caused a couple light primer strikes.

No surprises here, the gun is accurate and easy to shoot, I really like the Zev kit and the reset is very tactile. Here are a couple groups. the two targets with the pen in the pic were shot at 10yds with 10rds each, all others were slow fire at 7yds with 5rds each.

My G19 and 34 are both running WOTG fibre sights without issue.

Not all fiber optic sights are created equal. Some protect the fiber more than others. Dawson and TTI does a good job in this regard.

Dawson Precision and 10-8 both have videos on replacing your fiber optic front sight properly. A quick look at other companies sights as they come from the factory explains the bad rep that fiber optic sights get.

I know the rods are easy to replace. I just prefer tritium sights. Set and forget

Congrats on the G34. Out of all the Glocks, the G34 is definitely the nicest shooter. I took mine out today along with my G19 with some mods and all I can say is the G34 is way easier to shoot accurately than the G19. Nice shooting by the way.

How would you compare shooting your G34 to a 1911 9mm? I've never shot a 1911 in 9mm yet.

Congrats on the 34! Got mine two months ago and originally was going to leave everything stock, boy was I wrong about the factory adjustable plastic sights, like you I got rid of that ASAP.

Son in law finally ran his new last year G34 at a Pala meet last week, loves his. Ours has been awesome for the couple years we've had it. Also enjoy a G35 very much.

I have owned a stable full of glocks. Love the 19, 17, and34. Shooting a 9 millimeter 1911 and a Glock 34 are totally different experiences. I would honestly not say that in my hand one is more accurate than the other. A ransom rest would shoot my theory down at 25 yards and Beyond I'm sure. But I do prefer shooting a steel 1911 9 millimeter. It is as close to a religious experience as you can get in the shooting world. That being said the 34 is an absolutely fine weapon up to any task that you want to put it in with the exception being concealed carry unless you are a large frame man.
