    Popularity of Different Polymer Handguns - Pie Chart?

    Hey folks,

    As a data junkie, I am quite curious to learn what percentage of Americans choose a particular polymer pistol - Glock, M&P, XD, etc. and organize it into a pie chart-type dealio.

    I have searched the internets without much success - I'm sure this data exists but wonder if it's available to the public.

    Any leads or ideas? Thanks!

    (I know the usefulness of this data is not terribly important to most - however it would be interesting to see what magazines, parts, etc would be most common and available in a SHTF scenario, which I am nearly certain would be Glock. I would really like to support this with data though, and see what how people divvy up their purchasing decisions).

        Well, how do you enter data for peope who own a sample of each brand and/or multiples of them?

          Here is a sample. In my relatively small collection of handguns there is one polymers gun: it is a Glock. ALL others are steel based. And, please turn this into a caliber war as well. Ask how many of the polymer guns are 9MM, 45 Automatic, and/or .380 Automatic.

            Edit your post, add a poll and you will at least get a represented sample from Calguns. Make sure you can check multiple as I own many polymers, Beretta, Springfield Armory, Glock, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, Ruger, FH.... just to name a few.

            I am not a Glock guy but I would be shocked if it didn't account for at least 50% single handedly.

              glock would most definitely be number one. been around the longest has a rabid following, multiple generations and many parts compatibility even between different calibers in some cases. it's not even a contest.

                What about those of us who have no polymer pistols?

                    Erik that's a great idea - the option for a poll didn't even come up on this mobile version.

                    I will create one!

                        Why limit to poly? I imagine there would be plenty of 1911s and Beretta 92s all over the place.

                          Sauda for this study I am interested in polymer pistols in particular, because the market seems to be dominated by Glocks. I am curious to what extent that is true. Steel-based options seem to have a less monopolized distribution.

                          I am coming up with the survey options now - I will create a new post with the survey once I can get home to my computer.

                            Steel = 42
                            Alloy = 11
                            Polymer = 1
                            Glock = 0

                              I own two polymer handguns. Both M&P Shields.
