    Feeding problems Springfield 1911 Loaded...

Been having some feeding problems. The friend I was shooting with said it's the ammo. I'm shooting Blazer Brass .45 ACP 230gr. Recommended ammo with a better crimp, and possible polishing the feeding ramp (Is that said correctly?).

I just wanted to bounce it of the sounding board. So, has anyone had any problems with this ammo type or possibly this model?

I had the same problem with my loaded. After 250-300 rounds of wwb & blazer still had the same issue. I sent mine back to Springfield and it came back better than new. They polished the throat & feed ramp, and installed new extractor. No problem ever since. Even came back w/ extra mag. They have great customer service. If I remember it was about a 10 day turnaround.

"Feed problem" can mean several things. Is it that the next round is simply failing to feed properly? Does it get stuck with the nose against the frame/feedramp? Does it's nose get stuck at the top of the chamber?

      First things to try:
1-different ammo, especially a JHP load
2-New magazine to eliminate a magazine issue
3-clean the gun's feedramp and chamber area

Otherwise your friend might be right. A light polishing of the feedramp might be in order.

        Have you tried different magazines?

You shouldn't be having any issues with Blazer Brass. Give SA a call, they will take care of you.

Go try good magazines, not the OEM Springfield mags.

The gun is oiled. It's had around 600 rounds put through it. I don't quite know how to explain it, but it seems it could be a combination of getting stuck on the feed ramp and the bullet end getting stuck on the top of the chamber. I actually thought it was the magazines and tried different kinds. The one's that came with the pistol gave me the most problems. I'll try calling Springfield.

              Thanks for the advice.

Is it seating properly if you slowly chamber a round? (Release the slide with your hand and let it go forward; use snap caps) It may be extractor tension being too much; not allowing the bullet to seat properly.

+1 for BillCA's post. Give all those items a try before you go sending anything off.

1911's can be prone FTF's if one is "Limp Wristing". Be sure you hold it firmly and keep your wrist locked as firmly as possible. This will allow slide to retract as far as possible and pick up the next round cleanly. If it's not being limp wristed then all other info from above posters applies. HTH c good

600 rds of assorted WWB blazer brass and high quality HP's through my MC Loaded Operator with not 1 issue so far, my friend tells me i always get the guns made on a Wednesday. Maybe borrow a friends wilson combat mags and try again? I have no issues with the springfield mags but I have heard of issues like yours solved with better mags.
