Newbie asks which Sig is best?

I am a newbie.

I want to buy a Sig and I think I prefer an all metal one for range practice
but I am open to polymer.

Which model is best?

I have heard of 225, 226, 229, 2022 etc

I have about $1k to spend

Which gun rules?

If you can find one, take a serious look at the 227.

I am a fan of the 226 series. It depends on the caliber you want. I have two 226's in 9mm, two 220's, a 229 in 40 S&W plus a Mosquito in 22lr. I love them all.

Depends on your caliber you want to shoot. But the trusty 226 in 9mm is always a great choice

Go to local ranges and rent if you can.

See if there is a monthly Calguns shoot and attend and meet people.

Put your hands on them at your LGS.

I like the 226, but have not tried the others.

As a 226 owner I'll say 229.

2022 is a terrific pistol but not on the same level as the 226/229. I say go with the 229 Elite if you can.

Its the one that feels comfortable in your hand. If it isn't then you will not want to practice with it. If you can, shoot all of the ones you are interested in, then make a choice. But that's my POV.

I think the 229 still is sans LCI; I think the 226 has the LCI shark fin if that matters to you. My vote is for the P228.
