mp9 shield field strip take down lever

    [SOLVED]

I just got the mp9 shield, I went home and tried to field strip it. I cannot budge the take down lever at all (see picture). it should rotate to release the slide.

is it defective? anything i can fix or should I take it back to the store?

watch this, maybe you missed a part of the take down procedure, particularly the deactivation level inside the mag well

When we first bought it, that lever was a pain to move. I resorted to using the back end of a chopstick to help push it down. After a while, it will loosen up.

thanks, but I took down the sear lever inside, and the take down lever outside still won't budge a fraction of a mm.

thanks, I tried but the toothpick broke, but I was encouraged to just use more force (I was afraid to break something). it bounced back several times first but I managed to push it down with a screwdriver, and strip the slide : )

I probably would not have used a metal object. A chopstick is tougher than a toothpick but it won't mar the finish.

Glad you got it field stripped. I tried to work the lever a few times to get it to loosen up. Don't worry it'll get easier.

As others have said, it's hard to turn the takedown on a new Shield. It will ease up with use.

My Shield has about 400 rounds and numerous takedowns. I still need to exercise some "authoritah" when rotating the takedown, but it's waaaayyy easier now.
