    Sig Rails

Are sig rails picattiny or proprietary?
If not picattiny, are they compatible?

There have been three different types of rails on Sigs.

-The 220 sport had a weird rail that only held a barrel weight/compensator. These are pretty rare.

    - MOST P series have a "rounded" 1913 rail. It is not a true 1913 rail but accessories will fit.

    - Some 226.220.229 and all current 2022's have a true 1913 rail.
WTB: Sig P245 or P220 Compact

      SIG Rails

Thanks QXSOUP. I rummaged in SIG website and found this

Do you have experience with this adapter? Does it work with 1913 accessories? Reasonably priced too.

      Thanks.

I have something like that made by um tactical. it fits the 226 just fine but it's meant to and a real above the slide for a red dot. is that what you're trying to do?

The new P series Sigs with the long extractors now use the Picatinny Rail system as standard. The short extractors, for the most part, utilize the Sig rail.

Modern light makers like Streamlight and Surefire have Sig adapters.

I'm not sure that's true. The Mk25 has a picatinny rail while most the other models have the rounded sig rail.

Edit: meaning alloy framed P series.

That is why I noted "for the most part."

Sorry, the reference was to "long extractors". Pretty much all current P-Sigs have the long extractors and other than Polymer, Mk-25, and Legion models they are predominantly curved Sig rails.

Shoot, you're right. Sig and their inconsistencies. . .

The Legions use the long extractor, but with the Sig rail. Why Sig chose to use the proprietary rail on the Legions is beyond me. My best guess is because the frames are essentially Elite frames and Sig didn't bother to update those. They're probably leftover frames, recoated for hype.

I think the 1911 series uses M1913 rails also, but not sure if that's only a select few.

Best to call sig with your S/N to find out if it's a fit. Sigs aren't a hobby, they are a consumptive obsession.

P220 combat has 1913 rail. Most other P series have picatinny rails, which is a rounded 1913 rail.

SP2009/2340 have proprietary rail. SP2022 has picatinny rail.

M1913 and Picatinny are the same thing. The Sig rails are proprietary to Sig.
