    Sig SP2022 question

Hey fellas, I'm thinking about getting one of these but don't want a gun with a magazine disconnect.

Pursuing calguns, it looks like the SP2022 (9mm) got on the roster before the mandate but I saw a thread from 2012 where there was some issue with turners getting a batch of guns from sig that no longer counted toward the roster due to some change to them and that they would require them in future. I also spoke with a LGS salesman today who said something about them having them in newer guns.

I know the opinion of a salesman has to be taken with a grain of salt since you never know how informed they really are but since he conceivably sees these guns coming through with some level of frequency it made me wonder (of course, I doubt he would be checking each gun for a mag disco anyway).

I am hoping you guys could lay my fears to rest one way or the other. It's looks like a solid gun in any case.

    Thanks!

Some 9mm 2022 have LCI and some don't. Find one that doesn't, it is still on the roster. Contact Baboosh at 2A Zone, and make sure your transfer FFL is not a bonehead.

I don't think any of them have the mag disconnect safety. The 2022 with LCI were actually made for France.

They are solid guns, a very good value. I have one in 40, may pick up 9mm someday, but would not own one with LCI.

Some do, some don't. Mine is fairly new. Born on 8/13/16 in Newington. No LCI/mag disconnect

Some have the small LCI like the XDs. None have a mag disconnect. Plenty of pics on the web of both.

Only the 9mm 2022 has the LCI, and that is only when the French police make an order. The entire batch is made to their specs. The chance of you getting one with an LCI is actually pretty low now a days because most of the contract has been fulfilled already. The .40 and .357 versions do not have the LCI and NONE of them have the mag disconnect.

Even if you do happen to get one with the LCI don't worry about it, it is very well engineered and is a thousand times better than the god awful fin they have put on the 226 and 229.

The SP2022 is an excellent gun. Only thing to get used to (if you're not already) is the double action trigger. Aside from that, it was the wife's first pistol. Nice ergos, easy to field strip and decently accurate.

I bought mine in March 2016 at Sportsmans Warehouse and it came with two mags, holster, no LCI, no mag disconnect and internal extractor. To be safe if you see a 2022 with a internal extractor chances are there isn't a LCI or mag disconnect. They are out there just have to look. Almost every store within 15 miles of me has them in stock as of today.

                  ^^^

Same here, I bought one in Feb that had no LCI or mag disconnect. So if you find a LGS with one in stock there is a darn good chance it won't since this is the CA approved model. This is in contrast to the picture that is shown on their site.

The exact situation is that Discount Gunmart has a sale for $399 (for the 9mm, .40 is regular price) but are out at both locations. They offered me a rain-check for a 20% deposit so I could get the good price but I'd have to take whichever kind came in first.

The lci doesn't really bother me and it sounds like the mag disco isn't present in this line of pistols either way so for $399 I'm probably over-thinking all this and should just buy the gun.

                    Thanks for all the replies.

The lci is small and unobtrusive. It's a good shooter once you get used to the DA pull. The SA pull breaks light and clean.

                            Sig SP2022 question

They are a good deal IMO. If possible, check out in person before buying. Some have had a false reset issue, and I've experienced this shooting one that was brought to an industry shoot by a Sig rep. My personally owned one does not have the false reset. Dry fire the pistol, single or double action, then while still holding back the trigger, rack the slide recocking the hammer. Slowly let out the trigger until you hear/feel the reset click, then press the trigger again from that point. Hammer should drop. Some pistols in the past had two distinct clicks, only one of which was the actual reset.

They do not have a mag disconnect. The ones with the lci were made for France, and also have an external extractor. The one you most likely will find doesn't have an lci, and has an internal extractor.

They are a really good bang for the buck for a da semi auto handgun, especially if you find one on sale.
