Won't ship to CA??

I noticed while browsing a few online gun sale sites that certain shops won't ship to CA. The guns posted are on the list yet they still won't ship to PRK? What's up with that?

They have chosen not to do business with californians out of fear of our laws. Even if something is blatently legal they choose not to ship here. Its their loss, california is a big market. Cheaperthandirt wont even ship certain parts here.

Thats a shame. The laws to ship or sell to CA are almost the same with a lot of other states.

CTD wouldn't sell me a shotgun stock for $65, guys at MidSouth Shooters Supply had no problem, and it was about $30 cheaper.

Same with sportsman's guide. Not even a rear buis will be shipped to CA, even if it was for a registered assualt weapon.

Dude, Sportsman's Guide won't even ship an AR sight adjustment tool FOR AN SU-16!!!

I can understand a bit I guess. If i lived in the free world and ran a business I dont think i'd want to worry about keeping up with our lame laws and rules. I would rather just shun the state.

If it was my business, I'm sure it would be well worth my time to do the research to make a profit from those states.

Here's another example:

I was in Vegas (IN PERSON!!!!) and they wouldn't sell me hi cap magazines because I lived in CA.

I told the salesman that if it's LEGAL for them to sell over the counter in NV, why do they shun me? I said, "...But we're not in CA right now."

They didn't care. They said they don't sell to Californians because we are like a different country.

Then, to top that off, I went to plan B. I showed them my law enforcment ID. (In CA it's legal for LEO's to buy hi caps with merely showing ID.) The salesman said he needed a "letter" from my dept. I told him and the owner that CA law isn't as strict as they are and that they could stick it where the sun didn't shine.

Then I came back to CA and bought the same hi-caps WITHOUT A LETTER!

CALIFORNIA GUN LAWS SUCK. They don't thwart criminals in the least.

Sportsmans, Cheaper-Than-Dirt et al need to be spanked.Hard. Yea I know we live in CA and yea I know the gun laws suck and yea I know it's another layer of complication for merchants to sell guns to CA BUT....
CA residents are still Americans, living in America. News Flash ! CA is in America !
Not selling a Glock handgun is one thing, but not selling a rear BUIS sight [ or other similar non-governable items ] is stupid, discriminatory and should be subject to consequences.
My sense is that the admitted assinine CA gun laws provide cover for certain merchants to ' stick it to CA' by way of sticking it to its gun owning residents.
For me I wish I could return the favour, that is beyond NEVER shopping with either merchant for ANYTHING ever again.

Those shops are run by tards. I can understand not caring about a small state like New Jersey or Mass. but Kalifornia holds 20% of the whole country. We also have the largest firearms market (yes, even bigger than texas). Not shipping to us is like saying I think I'll have 20% fewer sales right off the bat. It's beyond mere ignorance, it's stupidity.

Hopefully I won't get flamed too much, but if I were a merchant, and knew that certain states had very irregular laws (NYC, CA, Chicago, MA, etc) AND their DA had no reservations on reaching across state lines to prosecute, I wouldn't sell it either. Margins are small enough, I wouldn't want to have an attorney at hand to interpret every single law or ammendment that passes in every state.

As a California resident, it's hard enough to keep up with our local laws and ammendments and upcoming props. Can you imagine if you had to do it to every state? Remember, the CA DA will sue to close you down. How much cash reserves must you have to hedge against this lawsuit from a state as big as California? I think 20% of lost business is better than going bankrupt.

Baby steps first.. #1 Always Vote, #2 Be Active.. Maybe not this year, maybe not in 08, but eventually things will turn around and California will be free again.
