I just wish I could get one with a 5" barrel. I have some cash to burn, but if I buy my first 1911, I want it to be a full size one. The exactly same money that Turner's asked for the Colt buys a Sig 1911 XO and a SA 1911 in stainless, and for only $699.99 I can get the SA in Mil Spec, parkerized. Isn't that a better deal than a Colt Commander?

$100 off. $849.99. I got one and its a great pistol. First time I bought a new Colt since that Gold Cup for Christmas 1990.

              NO

Last year I held a Colt Government stainless steel and a SA. The Colt is obviously nicer. JMHO. Also a Colt is a Colt and the others are not.

That gun is not worth $900. IMO

I had a Colt Commander not too long ago. Sold it because I liked my XSE much better.

The finish on the Colt Commander alone sets it apart from other 1911s in the California market. 'Old school' blue finish.

These Commanders are parkerized. Is that what you meant by 'old school'? Cuz blued and parkerized are two different finishes.

I have Gov't-sized Springfields and an Officers'-sized Kimber... I *was* torn up about this... should I? Then I noticed the crap G.I. sights... and your fine post reminding me, basically, that for another one hundred dollars (give or take), one could have the Springfield Loaded.

If I get another 1911, it will be a TRP.

Colt has told California FFL's that they will not be re-listing this particular model.

They decided to not renew almost their entire roster in 2015, that is why you only see a handful now. They are just finishing the process of not renewing the final models on the list. Their intent to not renew was very clear last year.

The original 1991 Colts with the "big roll mark" were parkerized.

                              These are actually blued.

I wanted a 1911 with blued finish, minimum MIM parts and, factory mods so I picked up a Colt XSE Government Model before they fell off the roster.

Around 400 rounds of FMJ and JHP; no malfunctions. Pistol slide to frame fit is tight. Totally satisfied with my purchase.
