    Conversion Kit?

    Hello,

What are the thoughts on purchasing a conversion kit for Glock 17 G3, or a .22 cal pistol in (CA) instead, to save $$$ on 9mm ammo for practice.
The new kit would cost $~300. And of course factory recommends certain type of ammo.

    Thx.,

    I have a .22LR kit for my Beretta 92 ($326), Glock 19 & 26 ($225 & $250) and one for my 1911's (Kimber $339). Four in total. I am a believer in conversion kits for inexpensive practice.

      Thanks for the respond.

As for the ammo, Do you really have to follow their rule for the ammo type and kind (In my case I am looking for "ADVANTAGE ARMS CONVERSION KIT)? The CCI that they recommend is kinda hard to find in local store.

The ONLY .22LR I shoot is CCI mini-mag or Blazer Brass 40 grain, either high or standard velocity. You can get it online everywhere.

As little as $.07 a round.

I use an Advantage Arms kit for my Rock Island Tactical 45acp, works great better than the Kimber kit or another "big name brand" kit that didn't function either. I've use Mini mags and other High velocity ammo plus hollow points and the AA kit never hiccupped once, I even bought 3 more new mags for it on EBay!

Also use one on my XD 9 without any issues as well.

I just used a buddies Advantage Arms kit on his 1911, and it was as good as he made it seem to be. Makes me think about getting one for my 1911 in order to save on ammo costs down the road

maybe invest that money into reloading? I've done the 22lr conversion for a few guns, but they just sit there now.

22lr has become easier to find, but not as easy or as cheap as it use to be. For a few cents more, I was able to reload with commercial components, now I cast and I'm able to shoot for less than the cost of 22lr.

But I get it, reloading isn't for everyone. Something to consider though.

Uhhh. Do you mean to reload the empty shells and using them again?

I have an old Advantage Arms kit for a 1911. Liked it so much, it's now permanently a 22lr 1911.

                              A conversion kit for "economy"?

                              3000 rds of .22LR - $225 (plus $300 for the conversion kit) = $525
                              3000 rds of 9mm - $525

                              Okay.
