    Kimber desert warrior

Trying to help my best friends wife get ready for Christmas. She wanted help buying him a gun and I know he's been eyeing the kimber. I'm not in Cali but wanted to know if it's on the roster before I start trying to find her one. Yes she will be paying for it and giving him a pic of it until HE goes in to do the paperwork. So no this isn't a straw purchase.

    Thanks guys

Here's the roster in case she ends up looking for any other handguns also. Don't see a desert warrior for Kimber on there but I'm not familiar with Kimber models. Worst case is she'll have to find one from a private owner to PPT. Good luck.

That's a nice looking gun. Has a suppressor ready version available with threaded barrel too! . . . . oh to live in a free state!

Slightly off topic - aren't spousal transfers exempt and legal, like parent/grandparent to child/grandchild? Not that it isn't okay to have the gun DROS'ed into his name, either.

I'm not sure, I told her just to take a pic of it and give it to him until he completes the paperwork. Hmm maybe I'll check into that so she can buy it and put it under the tree.

Yes I love that model. It maybe a gift to myself this year as well as a suppressor!

            Desert Warrior is off roster.

Even the regular Warrior is off roster.

The only on roster Warrior is the "Warrior II" (with Kimber Schwartz safety) which is not the same as the regular "Warrior" (without Kimber Schwartz safety) that you see on their website.

They actually have a CA compliant page which incorrectly shows the Warrior instead of Warrior II:

I believe the spousal transfer works like LE doing PPT's of off-roster guns. Technically it would be illegal for the wife to buy the gun with the intention of transferring it to her husband. But if she buys it, and is suddenly and instantaneously overwhelmed with buyers remorse, then it is ok for her to decide to transfer it to her husband.

Source: I witnessed a poor old lady get told off and called an ATF informant at a LGS because she wanted to buy a bolt action for her husband.

Unfortunately it is not on the roster, one easy way to know if a Kimber is not on the roster. Is to look at the model name, if there is no II behind the name then it is off roster. Only Kimbers with the firing pin safety are on the roster, none of the series I guns(no firing pin safety)are on the roster.

I've owned a Desert Warrior for over four years, it is one of my favorite 1911s, it's one heck of a smooth running gun. I did have to run my finish reamer through the chamber for it to reliable feed my handloads(factory ammo was never a problem) but since then it eats and spits out anything I feed it.

By the way I put a couple hundred rounds though that Glock 35 you sold me (many years ago) this morning. Still one of my favorite Glocks.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

i would have her buy the kimber warrior that is currently in our private sales section of the forum and then have it cerakoted.

i have a kimber warrior and desert warrior. i enjoy the desert warrior very much.

She can do that? Man, the guys at Turners denied me paying for a gun for my wife. Said it was a straw purchase and she has to pay for her own gun. It wasn't for me and I wasn't the one doing the dros/4473, I just wanted to buy my wife a gun.

Anyways awesome choice your buddy will be very happy. I had a black warrior ii. The thing was a madman, shot awesome.

I've shot a couple kimber warriors ii. Awesome gun, well balanced. Great coating. I would trade the grips out but they are unique. Overall well balanced gun. I would buy one in a heartbeat

I don't believe is straw purchase if she's fronting the money for him to purchase it.

It has to be a gift. So she would receive no compensation $ in return. If he paid her back for it, it would be considered a straw purchase.

Well its a Christmas gift so shes paying for it lol.

Well looks like Ca. roster will kill this idea. Any other suggestions for a nice 1911 1500.00 range?
