    Tanfoglio vs. CZ

I ran across a nice looking Tanfoglio pistol in 9mm the other day. I don't have any experience with these, though I do have some with CZ 75s and the 97.

My question is on how the Tanfoglio pistols stand up over time.

In 9mm it should stand up just fine. I had one in 40 S&W, it was a compact or subcompact model. The trigger was pretty bad but what do you expect for $300. The accuracy was good, magazines were expensive and the reliability was acceptable after I sanded down a burr under the extractor that caused me a lot of grief. I watched a show a year or two ago where they featured the Tanfoglio factory. Everything was CNC machined but the receivers were machined from castings.

I picked up a Witness Match in .45. It's much nicer than my 97B.

older tangfos i've seen are in as good as shape as similar age CZs
Competition is where you find out you're slow, can't see well, are not accurate, have poor gun handling, can't visualize, have equipment that doesn't work and either accept it OR DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Don't know unless you are specific about the model Tanfoglio vs which CZ. I would take a Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match over a CZ 75B SA any day if comparing stock to stock. Others that are amazing are Stock 2, Stock 3, Limited and Gold Team Custom. Then they have their XTreme series which is their custom guns.

I've had a .45 witness compact for about 10 years so far. It's been a good gun and I have no complaints about it. I'd buy it all over again if I had the chance, it's a keeper

They have a steel frame so they're pretty durable. In the early 90's the Springfield Armory P9, (frame and slide supplied by Tanfoglio) was popular with top IPSC shooters. They shot various 9mm variants pushed to Major power factor, which used to beat up 1911's pretty good.

Since both lines can be "stock" or "custom" we need to know what pistols you're trying to compare

I inherited a tanglo from my dad. It's a series 88, 9mm with a 41 ae barrel and spring switch out. Shoots pretty good and comfy in the hand.
I dreamed of owning a (insert off roster gun here)...

Oh yeah....then the earth splits open with me on one side and the (off roster gun) on the other. Then appeared a large red-glowing pit with gavin newscum, diane frankenstein and governor "brown the drain" at the bottom of it, waving their pitchforks at me.
