    Walther P99

Is $450 for a two-tone Walther P99 a good deal? I love how they look and feel, but wasn't sure if the price is right. It's 3 years old.

Depending on the condition but things can always be refinished or replaced. Which trigger system is it?

Seems like a good price as long as the gun is in good condition.

          Action Types

The P99 is produced in the following variants:

          P99AS (Anti-stress)
Single/Double action. Prior to 2004 there was no designation for the traditional double action trigger which Walther now markets as the P99AS ("anti-stress") trigger.

          P99DAO (Double-action Only)
The P99DAO was previously produced as the P990.

          P99QA (Quick-action)
Single action with preloaded striker (shorter, lighter pull). The P99QA was announced in 2000.

Here is some info on the different trigger systems.

            P99AS- Anti-Stress
Traditional double action and single action modes, and the added feature of the anti-stress trigger position which is engaged after reloading.

            P99DAO - Double Action Only
The striker is at rest with no preload for a long smooth trigger pull. The pull is consistent in length and force from the first shot to the last.

            P99QA -Quick Action
Partially preloaded striker provides a uniform short light trigger pull. This variation is a favorite among many sportsmen and police tactical units.

I don't quite remember but they may have stopped production of one of those trigger systems which many shooters preferred, but then that is personal preference.

Another thing you should look for is to see if the parts were made in Germany or if made in the U.S. The German made ones are more sought after. Try a web search and I think you will be able to find pictures of the markings and they significance.

The one I saw for $450 has the anti stress trigger system and the slide and other parts are german-made.
