Trash them and get MecGar 10 round 226 mags. They are cheap and 100% reliable. You will have to try a little to get the mag out if you have the magwell on your X5.

Is there a way to grind material off the pad the spring is resting on?

Did they come as factory mags with the gun?
If so, I would contact SIG for replacements.
If purchased as aftermarket, contact Checkmate for replacements?

yea mecgars are better they dont have those deep ribs that really cause some friction

The checkmate mags that Springfield Armory is supplying with their 1911s are not reliable at all.
