According to this site:
all Remington Rands were wartime guns, and are all therefore C&R and exempt from safety testing.
If you're looking to import one from out of state, you'd need to find an FFL who understands these things - not all of them do. Once you find one, yes, you can register it.
I think they had one at Sportsmen's Supply in Campbell recently, for a reasonable price, but I may be mis-remembering the brand.

Yeah, all Remington Rand M1911's are over 50 years old, so they are all C&R based on their age. This C&R status exempts them from California's "junk gun" drop test requirements.
You can have one shipped to your local FFL from out of state, no problem.__________________

No, a C&R FFL won't help you with this in California, unless you buy it out of state with the C&R, bring it in, and register it.
As I said, it takes an 01 FFL who understands this aspect of the law, and many don't. I've learned that an FFL who doesn't understand some subtlety of California law is impossible to convince unless you know them very well.
