    Quick question

I pulled a Glock 21 45 ACP out of my safe. I forgot I even had it. It has two magazines that hold 12 or 13 rounds each. I think I got it maybe in the 80's sometime????? I can check that out when I get home.

I know rifle laws, but am I in trouble owning these magazines (over 10 rounds) in this handgun? or am I OK, or do I need to buy lower capacity mags? They were legal when I bought it originally.

    Don't want to get burned!

    Thanks for your help.

      You are good to go.

      Large Capacity Firearms Magazines
Effective January 1, 2000, the manufacture, importation, sale, or transfer of any large capacity
firearms magazine, except to specifically designated parties and under specified conditions, will be
prohibited by law. Possession of large capacity magazines is not restricted by this law. All
applicable federal laws and regulations regarding large capacity magazines remain in force and must
      continue to be observed.

As long as you don't sell them as complete mags to another CA resident or buy more it's completely legal. You can use those mags at the range and for self defense. I have a bunch of hi-cap mags sitting in a locked cabinet, some of them for guns I don't even own.

          Just got home!

Why is it OK to have these magazines and use them in the Glock, but I can't have or get any others? Is it because I have the handgun they came with?

          It is a bit confusing.

And thank you for your replies. I can sleep easier tonight

because it was before the ban, they still allow you to have the mags as long as you had them before the ban. you just cant do as mentioned above.
And if your still worried you can send them to me.

you're good... like it's been said by others.

I have a couple 17 round 9mm mags and a hi-cap for my .45... all before the ban.

You might want to edit out those dates. You're fine legally at the moment...but do some fact checking with those dates.

I'd get the rebuild kits so you have drop free mags.

"encourage the guy to commit a crime" What part are you referring to? Now I'm worried again.

Where can I find the law to read for myself? I think I need to try and figure out what you guys are talking about. Or at least someone tell me what the law is.

What is a "drop free mag"?

What does that mean? I'm either OK or I'm not. Check the dates against what "facts"?

I have to say, without knowing the law I'm more confused now that when I started. I can do this or I can't do that or get this or don't get that??? I just wanted to know if I was OK with what I have right now.

The reference to commiting a crime was whatsisname telling you to mail the mags to him. You cannot transfer them to anyone else.

Just relax; If you owned these mags before the CA ban; you're fine to use them.

Drop free mags refer to the steel lined Glock mags; they drop free when you hit the mag release/ catch. The orig. plastic ones did not.
