1911 Gunsmith

I am looking for a recommendation for a good gunsmith that can go some trigger work on my Kimber Ultra. I need to have it lightened and smoothed out. If they do work on Sig's as well, that would be a bonus. Thanks.

Terry Tussey in nevada, iirc, does wonders. He used to be in OC, but left.

The Trigger Guy in Lake Forest. He has done my 1911 and all of my M&Ps and he does awesome work. His SIG triggers are great too.

I've never needed one so far but alway good to have a good go to guy/shop for repairs/mods.

Stay away from Bain and Davis aka Oscars. American Gun works is iffy too. I haven't used him but it seems Tanaka in Gardena would be worth going to.

I've tried all of them, and Alan Tanaka is the best. He's also great with S&W revolvers.

Tanaka is fantastic. He's one of the only guys in the area I would trust.

OCF's gunsmith quit.
I quit at Headhunters.
Bolsa is either good or a disaster, depending on your luck.
Tanaka is fantastic.
Jim Hoag was one of the best. But I heard he's been having health problems and has been in the hospital lately.
Randy and Scott at Apex were some of the best in the state, but they just moved to Arizona.
Dave's Metal Works has a good rep. But I haven't used him personally.
I believe Superior Defense has a guy they use who appears to be good.


TJ's Custom is shockingly still in business and should be avoided like they have the plague, ebola, aids, and zikka, all rolled into one.

Bolsa sucks as well. I'm to the point where I plan on having no more gunsmithing work done until I move to AZ and find a decent gunsmith. Also Mike's in Long Beach is beyond bad.

Tanaka is great. So is Dave Lawver of Dave's Metal Works. I trust him 100%. Also, if you don't mind heading out to Corona, Will O'hara is top notch as well.
