Holsters? Rail versus NON- Rail

Looking for help.

I am searching for a holster for my Kimber 1911 Target II, which is NON-RAIL

I am assuming that the holsters are made for either a rail or non-rail and that they are NOT interchangeable?

Is that correct?

They are specific also non rail will be much easier to find good luck and try to find a shop where you can try it before you buy. I have a drawer full of holsters that didn't work out for me.

I think it's depends on the holster and gun more than anything. For instance my Sig P220r fits fine in the holster's that I have for my P226 without a rail. Both Kydex and leather. I've lent a 1911 holster to a friend who needed one for a class. His railed Springfield fit fine in the holster I've had since before rails became popular. I guess the real answer is some will work and some won't, but I haven't seen one that didn't work yet.
