Interfamily transfer...

So my dad ( whom lives in texas) would love to transfer his sig p250 tactical in 9mm to me complete with all the goodies it came with but it has the threaded barrel.

I dont have a real like or need for the threads. Any ffl's do the transfer and switch barrels? Any Leo that what to switch barrels? I want this bad and need to figure out a way of ditching these threads. any ffl's with gunsmithing equip in nor cal?

"All the goodies" includes high capacity magazines, which can't come.

Your dad should get the barrel replaced before he ships it. There is no LEO exemption for a threaded barrel on a pistol - an AW. You'll have to find a way to get 10rd magazines for the gun.

As for the transfer itself, use search and look up "intrafamilial transfer" between states. there are many threads covering the process.

Why not go to the Sig Forum, and have your dad sell the barrel there, or trade it and have the new buyer throw in a few bucks too. I'm sure tons of guys would be happy to trade a regular barrel for a threaded one.

If not why not have him sell it, and then go buy another and ship it to you. When I was in El Paso last month, every store had several P250s. I get the impression the Sig 250 isn't so popular in States where they can get them.

Also the barrel isn't your only problem, the high capacity mags are another. Since the tactical comes with 3, I would take 1 and convert it to a 10 rounder, and just keep the other 2(in parts) for when I went out of State.

Ya I understand the requirements, and agree that trading the barrel plus cash would be best.
