    Pistols with threaded barrel

What if one registers a pistol as an assault weapon next year? Could one then legally have a threaded barrel on it? (Of course all AW restrictions would then apply to pistol)

I suppose you could, but what would be the point. Can't own a suppressor/silencer in Ca.

Yep... That's a LOT of restrictions on transport, storage, and use to be able to say "Looky, if I were in a free state I could thread on a silencer!"

      To answer the question:
      Not efficiently.
To register, you have to have lawfully possessed it prior to Jan 1.
It is and will be illegal to manufacture an AW.

The only legal path would be, before Jan 1, to install some kind of magazine lock, THEN install the threaded barrel.

We do not yet know if we will be able to remove magazine locks post-registration. The law is written, but the details of the regulations have not.

The way things are going, next year if you own a threaded barrel it will have to become a registered assault harrel, and still couldn't be installed in ca.

And why so many taxpayers are intending to uninstall themselves from California.

3 threads were recently posted in regards to the upcoming law that'll come into affect 1/1/17; nothing is written in stone as to what the requirements will be for weapons being registered as an AW.
