    MP5 Clones

    Hey Guys -

I used to be a member on here but can't get into my old account for some reason. Sorry if this has been posted before, I can't seem to find the exact answer via the search.

I was wondering if it's still possible to legally purchase a MP5 Clone Pistol such as Atlantic Arms POF 9mm for instance if it's configured with BB, Zero Sled, Blocked 30 mag to only accept 10rd.

I know there are some 07 FFL's (manufacturers) that are still DROSing AR pistols via break-top/bolt action that can still be converted to semi after DROs but is this possible with the MP5 clone frame?

I've seen a few people selling theirs for a whopping $3500 on the forum (more than double what they cost brand new from Atlantic Firearms for instance) but curious how it's legal to private party purchase but how it's not legal to import out of state and DROS new?

    Thank you,

    Scott

Roster does not apply to PPT between CA seller and a CA buyer.

Yes its possible theoretically. However you are forgetting that you cant convert an existing frame. Rather the pistol had have been built a single shot from the get go. And thats the hard part, finding the builder and paying for the labor.

Private party transfer is different and that is ok to do.

PPT, sure. New, someone would have to manufacture one from scratch and configure/sell it as a single shot bolt action or break action. There is another thread here about this exactly but nobody does this, it's pie in the sky right now. Contact Calgunners Baboosh and or AudioPhil to see if this is a possible with some creative configuration. But any way you slice it, you are talking one expensive toy.

Ahh ok - so it has to be a private CA seller... Will most FFL's object to doing the transfer between the two parties?

Laws here have gotten absurd. lol

And yes, FFL's that normally sell to individuals will perform a PPT.

Some FFL's don't care to help customers conducting a PPT because they don't make money from it so they'll put you on the bottom of the list.

I like my FFL; they treat a PPT or a purchase just the same

Does that faux suppressor just unscrew if I move back to TX?

We expect more of the Omega A2 rifles in the next 2 -3 weeks they are in production now. The fake suppressor has a pin and small weld to attached the barrel extension. You could not remove it unless you have a NFA Short Barreled Rifle permit. Once removed it would expose the 3 lug and threads mount .

I'd like to see a rifle variant of an mp5 clone with a longer handguard like a hk91 or the 556 version
