This may have been addressed before but here goes. Be careful about sending non rostered guns to Kimber for repair.
I purchased a used Kimber Solo in California. I'm a LEO and authorized to purchase non rostered guns. I had it about a year and had issues with the ambi safety.
I called Kimber and they said to send it in and sent a shipping lable. I did not hear anything for over a month and then called and spoke to customer service. They told me that the frame was damaged and could not be repaired. Furthermore they told me that since it was not on the DOJ roster they could not send me a replacement. I advise them that I purchased it legally in California. And additionally had a LEO exemption. They basically said, sorry, since its not on the DOJ list there was nothing they could do and it would not be worth it to deal with their legal department.
They did offer to replace the Solo with a CA legal Kimber of equal or slightly greater value. Their Tech was very helpful but his hands were tied. Since Kimber had nothing to offer in a rostered 9mm of solo size or smaller 9mm in general I wound up choosing an Ultra Raptor in .45 ACP. Which I had to pay a extra few bucks for. After about 5 months my dealer received the Raptor, which I promptly sold and recovered the money I paid for the Solo and the extra money for the Raptor. Which happened to sell the same day I sold it to the gun shop!
Anyway be caerful with dealing with Kimber on off roster guns because you might not get it back!
