Kx3 or kx5 on spikes tactical AR pistol?

    Hey all,

I have a spikes tactical AR pistol in prison I'm waiting to break out in a week or so. I want to put one of these noveske muzzle devices to calm down the fire ball effect and not trip out the people shooting next to me at the range.

Also, it's going on a 7.5 barrel so I hear these improve reliability by increasing back pressure. I plan on using only 5.56, not .223.

Am I better off with the kx3 or kx5? Doesn't even make a difference other than aesthetics?

Mods can you please move this thread to another part of the forum that will get more responses? Thanks

Whichever one works well, I have one on a 7.5" and there are no issues at all. Mine is the older one, I guess the kx3. But the only reason I would get one or the other would be for it to fit the rail.

They both work the same , KX3 is just thicker in size/phosphate coating while the KX5 is slimmer /nitride coating. Are you running a free float rail on your ST?

I believe the KX5 weighs less than the KX3. OP if you are trying to "tame" the fireball, putting a flaming pig isn't the best solution.

what muzzle device and rail are you using now? all those cans do is direct the blast and fireball forward.

It's a stock spikes ar pistol from the factory. Not sure if it's free floating or not?

Right now I believe it has the stock a2 bird cage flash hider.

I purchased it PPT from another calgunner. He said it runs reliably only when clean. I know the 7.5 barrel ARs are finicky.

My goal is two fold...reduce muzzle fireball and make the weapon run more reliably.

well if you already have an a2 on it, theres not much additional you can do about flash. the a2 is the most efficient flash hider I think. are you trying to tuck the can under the rail?

Wouldn't directing the fireball more forwards be better for use at the range? Or it doesn't make a difference for the people next door?

Kx3/5 is also a booster. Helps provide back pressure for shorter barrel ar's. The difference is the diameter.

So does it help with reliability?

Rather than a brake, I'd be looking at 2 other options regarding reliability with a 7.5".

                        1. Adjustable gas blocks
                        2. Heavy buffers
