    Glock LB pin coating torn

Just curious if anyone else has encountered this issue? This pin
was pulled from a nearly new G19-Gen3 (a few months old, less than 1K
rounds). This is the first time the pin was removed. Hand pressure only,
using Glock armorers tool, from left to right.

I am inclined to peel away the loose material, and re-install, but I don't
want the pin to creep. I understand that these pins are known to break,
and have a tendency to crawl (perhaps the reason for the coating?). Should
I replace the pin, or just use the old one? Any advice would
    be appreciated!

    The pin is like $3...

Just add a few magazines to make the shipping worth it.

Mine did that too after higher round count and taking it in and out often..peeled it off and keep shootin'

If it bothers you just buy a new one, OEM parts are cheap. lone wolf even has their own brand direct replacements for a few cents cheaper which are of high quality

      OEM 3.48 https://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail....%20block%20pin

      Lone Wolf 2.99 https://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail....14794&TERM=pin

        Thanks for the help!

I'm going to order some spares, and reuse the old pin,
until they come in. I might also try some of the non-OEM,
black-oxide coated, stainless models. I inspected the locking
block. I do not see any sharp edges or burrs.

Some people pay extra for shiny stainless steel replacements. Score.

I am an armorer for a small department. This is super common, I don't replace the pins and they work fine. The one in my duty gun is darn near just all shiny metal.

I'd be getting new or different pins. Join GSSF and get them (and any other worn parts) replaced free at the match.
It seems like a very thick and brittle black paint. at least on the ones I'm dealing with.

Thanks to everyone, for clearing up the mystery!

Two One out of the three pins has this coating (Locking Block Pin
and Trigger Pin). The Trigger Housing Pin has a black-oxide/phosphate
type finish. The Trigger Pin appears to be plastic.

Same here. It is somewhat rigid. When split, it springs open. It appears
there may be some plastic in the material. It may be a cost saving feature, or
it may be a design change. The coating might help prevent pin crawl, or
cut down on Locking Block/Frame wear? Once the coating integrity is broken,
oil wicks in, and slips between the coating and the pin. At that point, the
coating peels away easily. It is a minor problem, but I would like to see Glock
choose a better coating, or add features to the pin, that allow it to adhere better.
