Save up the coin and get a Springfield 1911 9mm! It will be worth the wait and you'll forget you spent an extra $400 bucks. Once you get the bucks it will still be difficult to find a Springfield, but the Kimber's are readily available at Turners.

Only option at that price is either used 1911 or the RIA 38 Super with a 9mm conversion barrel. I went the second route and love it. The barrel from Rock Island just dropped in on mine with no fitting needed. Using 38 Super mags I've had no issues after the first 100 rounds on 9mm. Plus having the option of shooting 38 Super as well is awesome.

Doesn't the RIA in .38 super have the GI cut sights? Can you get "good" sights with it?
