    Kimber Pro TLE II

I had planned on purchacing a Kimber "Pro" TLE II. I have two Kimber Custom TLE's. Two of my favorite 1911's. Seems the Pro version did not make the DOJ list. Is there any legal way for me to purchace this pistol?
    Thanks

Find someone who has one to sell via PPT (private party transfer).

What would be the advantage/s of having the Kimber TLE model over the Kimber Pro Carry model?

I wanted the exact same semi - Pro TLE.

Correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is this:

The question here is Aluminum Frame versus Steel Frame. Pro versus TLE is essentially that difference. From what I have read, steel frames tend to withstand more abuse after let's say 15K rounds with less noticeable frame wear. An Aluminum frame is expected to show more wear given that amount of rounds fired out of it.

Which brings you to the intended use:
IFF, you intend to use the gun as a carry pistol (not primarily a range gun), aluminum frames might make sense as over the life of the gun, it may not fire 30K rounds through its life, and therefore have less tendency for wear. With the Aluminum frame, you also have a reduced overall weight of the gun, making it more comfortable to carry.

IFF, you intend to use it primarily as a range gun, then you need to consider how long you expect to keep it, and how many rounds will go through it overall. If not carried, then weight is a non-issue. With the frame being steel, then there "may" not be as much wear on the gun 10-20-30 years from now.

My 2 cents, if I am incorrect, please feel free to chime in.

For me the advantage is the steel frame.

+1, I prefer steel as well, that's why I ended up going with a Custom II.

the donald. Thanks a lot for explaining differences in that little write up. Going by what you said, I should be okay with the AF of the Pro model.

What if I had a friend with a Pro TLE living in Nevada that wanted to sale this pistol? Could he come to my FFL in Cal. and sale me that gun?
