    Sig P226 w/red dot

Does anyone have a red dot on their Sig? I'm intrigued on how they work with pistols. Ive only seen 1 or 2 companies that make adapter kits to install them.

I'm not for red dots on pistols. Gabe Suarez has done a good job convincing people that they are a "must have", but that guy is a con artist.

For the price you spend on a red dot + install, you could have some nice night sights and plenty of ammo. Get accurate and quick with your irons and you're good to go.

I love red dots on rifles, but on a pistol you don't get a great co-witness so a back up plan is hard to come by. I also feel that the close up use of a pistol eliminates the need for an advanced optic. In most self defense situations you'll be point shooting anyways

Thanks, that's the kind of feedback I was looking for. Having never shot one on a pistol before, wasn't sure if it's worth the $$$.

Honestly it all depends. I am farsighted and struggle with seeing my front sight in focus. A red dot is a tool that allows my accuracy to increase by quite a bit because I can actually focus on the sight. I can still shoot with irons alone, but for me, a red dot on shotgun, AR and pistol allow my accuracy to remain where it was when my eyes had solid up-close vision. Just another perspective...

          Sig P226 w/red dot

I have a P226 with a Trijicon RMR installed. Had the slide milled to accept the red dot.

As the poster above, my eyesight is such that cannot focus well on the front sight and my shots tend to open up. With a red dot, I am far more accurate, especially at longer distances (i.e. 25 yds+).

On my CCW guns, have laser grips installed which in a sense act as a red dot at close range.

If I had perfect vision, might skip the red dot (expensive) but a red dot improves my shooting by leaps and bounds. The old saying "you can't hit what you can't see" really is true.

I have a um tactical rail that mounts to the under rail. I tried it on my 226 with a fast fire 3. It was disgusting how easy it was to shoot both eyes open getting back on target. Don't know if I'd pay to get my slide milled. Red dots on pistols are fun.

I have a Sig mini red dot STS-081 mounted on a Sig bridge mount for my P220 super match. The red dot makes a huge difference when shooting at a longer distance like rlewpolar mentioned above.

Every IPSC Open champion for the past 30 years used a red dot. Yes, they are better than irons.
