New Glock 36 with Accessory Rail CA-Legal?

I believe that sometime in late 2015 Glock changed the Glock 36 (slimline, sub-compact .45 ACP) by adding an accessory rail to the frame. It is still a Generation 3 pistol. I was told early last winter that this meant that the Glock 36 probably would no longer be approved for sale in CA. Glock didn't change the model name or do much to call attention to this change. I think the new version has the same part number as the original G36, but with "FGR" added to the end.

So, my questions are: (1) Is it legal for CA dealers to sell the new version with the rail in CA?, (2) if not, can they still order the old, non-rail, CA-approved version (I heard that Glock quit making that version)?, (3) Does anyone know where I can buy a CA-legal Glock 36? Thanks

Check the DOJ "Safe List" (becuase God forbid unsafe guns be allowed in this state) and as long as the model/SKU number listed on the roster matches that of the new G36 with accessory rail, then yes you can buy it through any dealer. It's as simple as that.

If you're really struggling with allowing yourself to bet $500 on this fact, you can always find the EXACT gun you are wanting to buy online (preferably the ad to the sale that you are wanting to click "buy it now" on), print a copy of it, ensuring that it lists all relevant details (like Model/SKU #, color, barrel length etc.), take it to your FFL and ask the man/woman in charge of dealer to dealer transfers there to confirm that you are safe to order this safe gun in this safe state from his safe shop in order to be a safe citizen, thanks to the DOJ's roster. (puns intended)

I think all the new Glock 36s I've seen online are the new version with the rail (based on the part number - sometimes the photos are old). A Glock representative told me last winter that these are not approved for sale in CA. That said, I'm not sure if a dealer or the DOJ would realize this, since the DOJ's list of approved handguns doesn't give a part number for this gun. Maybe Glock worked something out with the DOJ to allow it to remain on the list even with this minor change. Has anyone seen the new G36 with the rail for sale to the public in CA? I don't really care which version I get - I just don't want to order one and then find out it can't be transferred in CA.
