Electronic Handgun lock

Pin activated, bluetooth monitoring. I like the idea for when I'm NOT home... especially the app that lets you know if it's moving. I also see some issues with it: How accurately can you rotate that dial to input your pin when you're under stress? How secure is the app?

Do they offer a volume discount?

Compared to a low tech (and low cost) cable it doesn't seem to offer an advantage with respect to being a physical lock used when one is away from home. It seems to me the value could be that of replacing a locking "quick open" handgun safe. It basically dispenses with the box and locks the gun from within, so to speak. And could be as fast to activate when compared to a "quick open" safe locked handgun.

People who are responsible understands firearm safety, keeps their guns locked in safes. Idiots that keep their guns loaded in couch folds or on kitchen tables around young children doesn't care about this product.

I just run a plain old cable lock though my pistol which I keep locked in its case, in a locked gun safe, in a secret locked room, in my locked house.

For added safety, I keep my ammo in a locked box, in a locked cabinet, in the locked garage of my locked house.

I'll have to step up the safety a bit when I have kids.

Reasons I would not be interested.

1) Needs a battery to operate. Not a good feature in my opinion for your HD gun. Initially I thought the lock itself was mechanical, but it does need the battery too.

2) Can't keep a round chambered.

3) Takes two hands to operate.

4) I don't want my HD gun stored where anyone can play with it, alarm or not.

5) How strong is it? I bet a screwdriver will break that connector post right off especially if someone is not concerned with scratching the gun's slide. It must be a hollow tube since something has to actuate the bullet shaped part to lock onto the inside of the barrel. Obviously, just a guess since I haven't seen one in person.

Hypothetically speaking...assuming we were tasked to sell this...I don't see a reasonable argument for it.

I'm a strong believer in...

#1 If the pistol is on you, it should be cocked and locked (aka condition-1).
#2 If not, it either needs to be in a safe, or an enclosed container that'll satisfy TSA regulations for transport.

...and this product satisfies neither.


EDIT: NVM...I just found a use...I suppose you can put it on before you put in in your range bag whenever you travel? Not sure how practical this might be, but I'm trying to be open minded about it.
