    Weapons light suggestions

I have a USP 9mm compact with the proprietary HK rail. Can anyone give me suggestions on what weapons light will fit on that rail?
    Thanks

Give some serious considerateness to installing a rail adapter. I have one my HK USP. It adds very little bulk and allows me to use any of the current lights/lasers on the market.

If you can't afford a Surefire then buy a Streamlight.

So you can see the relative sizes: in this pic, second column, third one down:

I hadn't thought of a rail adapter. Thanks for the suggestions

I bought a Streamlight TLR1 HL because I didn't want to spend that much on a Surefire. I'm happy with it but if I were to buy a light again I'd pay the extra for a Surefire. I think the saying around these forums is "buy once cry once."

I recently purchased a Sreamlight TRL-I HL and it seems well made, has a tight fit, easy one hand operation and super bright.

What more would I get with a surefire?

              Thanks,

              Sam

you would get true operator status.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with my TLR1 HL and will continue using it. But I had the chance to temporarily swap wIth someone's Surefire at a class and I immediately felt the quality difference. One example is the switch, the TLR works well, but felt flimsy after trying the switch on the Surefire, I immediately noticed the solid and firm feel on the Surefire. The Surefire felt more solid as if it can take a drop better. The other guy complained about the switch control on my TLR but I've never had a problem with it, to me they were both simple to operate.
I'm assuming most of us are buying the light to attach for SD and HD. When I bought the Sreamlight I thought "great I can save $80 from a Surefire and buy more ammo." Now I think "if I'm using this for my home defense gun, what's another $80 for a light that will be attached many years."

                    Shoot at the light.

I'm not sure how much extra you get with the Surefire. I have a TLR-1, TLR-3, and the XC1, so I can't compare apples to apples.

But I have handled the X300, and I can tell you that it's like the difference between a Humvee and a tank. The difference in build solidity is pretty apparent.

I agree, exactly what I was saying above, you can feel the obvious difference in build quality. But I'm still happy with my Streamlight and will continue using it until it breaks.

In my opinion, the TLR is too bright...its like 600 700 some lumens. I don't think a tac light should be anything beyond 100 200 for a handgun. Whatever you are defending yourself from will be within 10-20 yard (if not closer) and that much light will just end up blinding you (esp if it hits off of a wall).

I don't understand the need for 700 lumens on a handgun...unless there is a specific situation in mind (maybe a cop clearing a warehouse or something like that)...

                            That's why I recommended the TLR-3.

                            1) It's designed to fit on the USP compact, so no adapter necessary

                            2) It's 90-125 lumens, so it won't blind you in a HD situation

                            3) Full sized lights will go WAY past the slide and cause problems with balance and clouding the lens

                            4) The XC-1 is the only Surefire I do not recommend. It is poorly constructed compared to Surefire's other products.

I own over 20 handgun lights, including the entire Surefire and Streamlight handgun lines, so I'm not playing any favorites.

That pretty much sums it up IMO
