Im looking to travel in Sept and need to ship a few handguns using shipmygun. I dont know if how well they would be handled so Id much rather use a hard plastic case for shipping than some cardboard box and foam. I know it may be rough but my budget is $100-ish for something that holds 4-5 pistols . I will have 2 TRP 1911s , an M&P 5in and a VP9 . Im looking at these two , anyone have any experience with these companies or recommendations? Ive never done this before so i may be over looking something.TIA

I had the seahorse version of that caseclub case you have linked. While I never used it for mailing / traveling . I thought it did a good job of protecting my handguns when used and would have trusted it for travel or mailing.
I actually found my seahorse at a local frys electronics at a good price. ($70~) for the 5 pistol version which I thought was a good price back then. -
Yeah. I bought one from amazon. It is very nice and it keeps my firearm snug. It only has room for the fire arm, one magazine , and a small item.
Its very rigid. And I keep 2 padlocks on it. I would buy a second one but the other firearm Is a sub compact with a 3" slide
The seahorse I have is a se-300 single handgun case, I bought it for $52Last edited by rigorkrad; 07-18-2016, 2:47 PM.Comment

Generally, only an FFL can use the United States Postal Service to "mail" handguns to the manufacturer or another FFL.(former) Glock and 1911 Armorer; LEO (now retired)Comment

I bought one lightly used for $50, really good deal. The foam in the bottom was wet with gun oil, but warm water and Dawn cleaned it right up. Very well built.sigpic

I have a Seahorse one that you can pluck the foam and you could put at least 8 pistols in there. The nice thing about the one I got is it has rollers. Definitely a must have if you plan to carry over 4 guns.Comment

They are great cases. I have a 540 series that holds 4 pistols, 12 clipazines and a couple boxes of ammo. I also have a single pistol 300 series case.
I'm not sure who makes these cases. As I also have a "quick fire" brand case that's also similar model number to the sea horse. "qf540" The plastic case is 100% identical (foam has different cut outs) but everything else is identical shape, size, design, mold markings, everything. Only difference is the oval shape has a different sticker from the company. Seahorse is about $30 cheaper if you buy online. I got jipped off at the Costa Mesa gun show on it.

I have the seahorse 630 and 1530. Cheaper than a pelican but every bit as good. The 630 has an optional foam cutout for 4 pistols, plenty of mags and a couple of accessories. The foam is also closed cell so won't trap moisture but I keep dessicant packs in them anyways.Comment
