My trigger is mush (Glock)... should I try to "fix" it?

Picked up a G34 and the trigger is well... a glock trigger. This one feels particularly mushy as it is new. Sure I can live with it as I have with other glocks, it does get marginally better after 1000's of rounds... but as the g34 is essentially a comp gun I am contemplating doing some work on it.

    I've researched the following:
    -ghost connectors
-zev tech drop in / apex drop in / various other drop in
    -the .25 cent trigger job

I would prefer not spending another 100-200 bucks on a drop in trigger but will consider it... thing is that I don't mind a 5-6 lb pull on this gun and overall, it's not gritty or anything. I just want a cleaner break if that makes sense.

I've heard on the interwebs that there is nothing to get rid of that mush so don't want to drop too much to gain little benefit. I've also heard horror stories of people messing up their guns with ghost connectors and going back to the stock setup. Don't want to waste time.

I don't expect a perfectly crisp break or anything but something approaching a Walther PPX (surprisingly great for a striker fire budget gun) would make me a happy customer.

    Any help would be appreciated

Try the "dot" connector, which is used in Gen4 Glocks. The angle on the connector is what makes it light-but-mushy or heavier-but-crisper.

I believe the Glock 34s come with the - connector, which is "light-but-mush". Try the . connector or the standard unmarked connector.

Check out glocktriggers.com. I *LOVE* the Haley trigger (no mush, very very crisp), but you also might want to check out their other offerings.

Everyone is going to have a different perception on how the trigger feels and person preferences. From my own experience, I have a Travis Haley trigger in my gen4 17 and enjoy it. It did remove some of the up-take before the wall and provided a nice break.
The SKIMMER Reduced Pre-Travel CARRY TRIGGER SYSTEM  Manufactured using 100% OEM parts, all of the metal components are individually hand polished to a mirror finish for consistent, reliable action.

Also have played around with the Agency Arms trigger, but for the fact it had a flat faced trigger shoe. The flat faced trigger feels great and gives a consistent pull all the way to the rear, finishing flat.

On my 19, which is for carry and has the factory trigger, the only noticeable difference I can perceive is the up take.

Mines never been mushy, but I bought it used. All I've done to mine is a OEM - connector and a 0.25$ polish, very crisp with short travel. Maybe you're just used to shooting other guns or something. When I went from my Glock to a SIG, the SIG trigger felt awful to me in comparison. Maybe you're experiencing something similar. Out of all the pistols I've fired, my Glock has the best trigger. H&K and SIG are both on that list.

That's odd, my G34 has a lighter trigger than the G17, but still has the signature staple gun trigger.

Not trying to be a smart *** or anything, but have you thought about just shooting and learning the trigger? I learned to shoot on double action only revolvers so the transition to DA/SA Sigs and later to Glocks was very easy for me. Sometimes folks look to trigger/action jobs as a crutch. After all shooting basically boils down to front sight/trigger press.

I tried the glocktriggers "Vogel" in my 17 and I felt no improvement. It's basically the OEM trigger shoe with highly polished oem trigger bar and assembly. I specifically hate the protruding trigger safety on the OEM shoe. It wears on you especially in a high speed high volume competition setting.

I ended up going with the ZEV kit and I absolutely love it. The reset is ridiculously short, loud, and tactile, and the takeup is buttery with a crispy break. The trigger safety goes perfectly flush with the flat face shoe and feels infinitely better than the stock shoe. When dry firing, my front sight stays rock solid when the action breaks, and it all translates into good times at the range for me. Hell, if you're anywhere near Temecula, you're welcome to try it out.

Charlie Vanek. He does amazing work. It will take all "mush" out of the factory trigger and has a clean, light break.

i left my mushy 17 trigger mainly stock. Got the ghost tactical 5.0lb connector that has the over travel stop. It stops the mushy squeeze as it has the stop. Polish all the oem components and it becomes real smooth and easier to pull which makes it feel lighter without sacrificing reliability like when you change up the springs and stuff

Appreciate all the input from everybody, got some things to think about. Hey Buster, if youre ever near Brea indoor or FT3 inStanton hit me up, I got some stuff you can try out too...

Trigger is definitely subjective but also not... a really nice 1911 trigger is unmistakeably crisp and satisfying, different but related type of satisfaction with a nice revolver.

As for striker fire guns, Ive shot a lot of different guns and I put decent groups at 10-15 yards and dont compete so its more about feel than anything else. I just really appreciate a good trigger and for me, trigger discipline/control is 90 percent of the game... my buddy recently scored a PPX at around the same time I got the 34 and I was amazed by the trigger on that budget gun. In free states that gun is $300. Just astounding. By comparison, the 34 was meh, how can I improve this?

I like the minus connector, Apex Action Enhancement trigger, and Apex Ultimate Safety Plunger.

Another option is the Travis Haley Skimmer trigger.
