    1911 Nighthawk T3 w/Red Dot

Recently picked up a Nighthawk T3. I'm a 1911 fan. Never owned a Nighthawk, but had a chance to buy one from a buddy who needed some money. My usual loads just didn't perform to my expectations.

Normally I use WW231 and a 200gr LSWC moly (BearCreek) in my target 45 ACP loads. Back when 231 was scarce, I subbed Red Dot and worked up some loads I like.

As I said, this Nighthawk didn't like my usual target loads, but I loaded up some Red Dot and to my pleasant surprise, it loved them.

Not sure why this gun doesn't like WW231. But, who cares, I found a load it does like.

    45 ACP
    4.5gr Red Dot
    200gr LSWC BearCreek
    830 fps
    COAL 1.210"
    Taper Crimp .469"

I shot this target from a bench rest at 50 feet. And, all my targets looks just like it or better.

If you own a Nighthawk 1911, give it try. Your gun might like it also.

Definitely on my bucket list..though I have to be honest, I thought you meant red dot as in a sight system.

I think it has more to do with the person behind the trigger. You are definitely a good shot. Please post a target that was shot with your usual loads. Like to see how much difference. Thanks.

Just noticed you said benchrest. Still not bad. How well can you do standing off hand?

            Outstanding!

Outstanding shooting skills you have my friend. And what a beautiful 1911 pistol. But then again it is a Nighthawk and that says it all. Congrats on that purchase.

I thought that too. I was looking for a Trijicon RMR mounted to the slide.

              Awesome shooting by the way.

Travesty. Now I have to get that image out of my head. Like seeing naked Rosie O'Donnel.
