    RIA 1911 CS

I just bought a compact 1911. It comes with the wood grips but I'm looking to change them right away. Can I buy the standard grips for a 1911 or is there a specific type to buy? Thank you in advance.

Recommendations for grips are welcome as well!

I'm also looking for a replacement slide since the original front sight isn't changeable. I want to add a better visible option. I'm just looking for expert recommendations. I do not want to order the wrong parts

Officer model grip panels. That is what I put on mine.

That looks good. What brand did you buy?

What do you mean not replaceable? Is it staked in? If so, a gunsmith can remove and replace. Or, you could just have a front dovetail cut into the slide, then use whatever sight you want. Cheaper and easier IMO to changing the slide. A slide would need to be fit to the gun, there are no universal replacement slides for 1911s, especially officer models. Slide needs to be fit to the frame, barrel needs to be fit to the slide and frame; and a new bushing needs to be fit to the slide and the barrel.

This is the type of advice I'm looking for. Thank you. I didn't know that I could have that done. Yes the front sight is fixed.

If you swap out your grips, invest in a new set of grip screw bushings and screws. Never hurts to have extra parts.

Thank you. But my main question is if the compact grips are the same dimensions as the officer model

                              Yes, officer size.
