Varies from store to store, need more information. Where do you live?

For private party transfers involving one or more long guns, or a private party transfer involving one handgun, the total allowable fees, including the DROS, safety, and dealer transfer fees, are not to exceed $35.00.
The dealer may charge an additional dealer-service fee of up to $10.00 for each additional firearm.

NOT at Target Masters Milpitas, CA.

Had a bad luck with them related to FSD. They have earned negative publicity for their $10.

For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than to Google it for themselves.

Assuming you're from Long Beach, just find your nearest FFL / gun store. They all generally charge the same, and if you find a place that does it $5 cheaper, the hassle's probably not worth the gas.

          NOT Bullseye in San Rafael.

I do haunt the consignment revolvers at The Gun Room in Burbank.

I PPT a lot. I bought 75 handguns last year and 33 so far this year.

So I know a thing or two about where to go.

Hands down the best place is Alamo Pawn in West Covina.

Other places I like are 2A Zone in Rancho Cucamonga, Super Spectrum in Thousand Oaks, and Gunther's Guns in Carlsbad.

It would probably help if you posted your location.

Both ammo bros and turners in SoCal only charged $10 on top of dros for PPT for me last week for both rifle and handgun.

($45 total for each PPT i had to pay including the dros)
So you paid $20 on top of DROS, not $10, DROS is only $25. You got over charged twice.

Ammo Brothers in Cerritos was efficient and friendly.

                    They charged the standard $35.
                    Riflegear is also GTG.

Turners Long Beach would be closer, they can be very slow.

Sharpshooter Range in Torrance is OK if you go when Ryan (the younger guy) is there.

                      Addax Tactical in San Fernando

Fort Courage Armory in Simi Valley

Both are great folks to deal with.

We can not give you any recommendations on where to do a PPT unless you tell us which city you live in.

As far as fees, it is only $10 plus $25 DROS so total is $35. If you are purchasing multiple guns through PPT at the same time, you can put it all on one DROS and pay just $10 more per firearm.

Example is if you buy 3 guns from either the same seller or from 3 different sellers and they all meet you at the same time at an FFL, you can put all 3 guns on one DROS so the total is only $55.

Now if you have a gun shipped to an FFL, then those fees can range anywhere from $20-$100 plus $25 DROS and sometimes tax too.

Turners is the one place I would avoid at all costs.

Ammo Bros, Rifle Gear, and Martin Retting are places I try to avoid. All three suck and you can expect to spend over 30 minutes there.

Once you get used to 5-10 minute PPTs at places like Alamo or 2A Zone, it's annoying to waste time at these other stores.

If you are in Orange County (SoCal) then check out Russel Tactical. I just did a PPT there with a fellow calgunner and it was great experience and low fees. He likes to schedule ppt by appointment only by email so you wont have to wade through a bunch of people and it makes the process much quicker. Plus I like to support small businesses.
