another reason to remove your LCI

I just realized another reason why you should remove your LCI. When you drop a round in the chamber....the bolt cannot slide forward fully...the lci gets in the way. So you can only chamber a round by inserting a magazine and loading it from there. At least its like this in the sigs (probably other guns as well)

Honestly, i'm really ticked at the laws we have in california. Totally without purpose or function and they actually prevent proper functioning of the gun.

On a semi auto pistol, you really shouldn't drop a round into the barrel. It is bad for the extractor. Just sayin

And it's hard on the extractor. Doesn't matter if it hasn't broken yet, it's widely known that it's hard on an autoloader to do this.

The fact that you haven't broken yours yet is irrelevant.

Uhh... You're not supposed to drop a round in the chamber and shut the slide on most semiauto pistols. The gun is still functioning properly, you're operating it incorrectly. If you actually look at how most extractors are positioned, the groove in the brass slides into place from underneath, the extractor doesn't "snap" over it as the slide closes. The LCI is irrelevant.

Guns are tools....even if i need to (theoretically) change out the extractor sooner (lets say 500 rounds sooner), who cares. With that said...i almost never find the need to do this but i may one day...

My point here is that the LCI gives zero benefit and multiple potential problems. As does the ridiculous magazine safety dc.

As to the poster who said the extractor will not slide over the case if i do this...try it at the range and update me if it doesn't work

No one said it wouldn't snap over the case, it's that it isn't designed to, and does not do that during normal operation when discussing most pistols. As far as needing to change the extractor sooner, well odds are you wouldn't know that until it's actually failed...

Yes, the LCI sucks but not for the reason you've given. Operate your pistol correctly.

Yep that's another reason.........unless you load your weapon properly.

                    What if time.

What if the extractor breaks after you fire a round at a home invader who has a gun?

1st mistake, buying a gun with an LCI. Second mistake, hand loading a round in the chamber.

Do M9s have LCI? Or are they just bumpy extractors like on Glocks?

Why do you even need a reason? Take it off if you want.

I drop a round into my Beretta's chamber to load it every time I go to the range.
